Summary
To organise all social activities / diversional therapy within the Home, considering residents particular likes and dislikes as appropriate.
2. To liaise with Care staff regarding the care of the residents and particular activities that may be beneficial and stimulating. Deliver these using a Person-Centred Approach.
3. To organise and be involved in activities that involve community visits outside the Home and
to co-ordinate the availability of transport for residents for such visits.
4. To plan activities to set timetables and to ensure that these are communicated to residents
and staff alike.
5. To be responsible for distribution of library books throughout the Home and to liaise with appropriate library organisations.
6. To ensure the provision of specialists media for the residents with special needs (news tapes, talking books, large books and braille as required)
7. To communicate and liase with relatives and friends of residents as needed.
8. To liaise with care staff to ensure that activities are documented on appropriate Care plans and in Care plan records.
9. To undertake and assist on other duties, as may be necessary from time to time. eg.nail care.
10. To communicate and liaise with Matron re schedule of events, planning special occasions, monthly programme etc.
11. Act as escort for clinic visits and arrange transport for the same if necessary.
12. To attend staff meetings.
13. To participate in all mandatory training.
14. To assist in shopping for residents.
15. To maintain confidentiality at all times.
16. Liaise and work in partnership with the other social therapist employed within the Nursing home.
17. Be fully familiar with all Policies & Procedures for the Nursing Home
18. Work within the Health & Safety Policy to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
19. To transport specimens to the hospital and any other appropriate errands for the Nursing Home when required.
20. To answer the telephone in a professional manner.
21. Be aware of GDPR responsibilities.
