Summary

General Science Teacher – Permanent, full-time from September 2026


This General Science Teacher role offers the opportunity to work in a specialist secondary setting supporting pupils with autism and ADHD. The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where teaching is personalised to meet pupils’ academic, social, and emotional needs. This role would suit a General Science Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and confident adapting science teaching for learners who benefit from consistency, clarity, and strong relationships.

Duties as General Science Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging General Science lessons adapted for pupils with additional needs
  • Teach across biology, chemistry, and physics to a range of abilities
  • Adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to support pupils with autism and ADHD
  • Create a calm, structured, and predictable classroom environment
  • Use positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies consistently
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching to support individual outcomes
  • Work closely with support staff and wider teams to deliver inclusive practice
  • Support pupils’ confidence, engagement, and curiosity in science
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times

Ideal General Science Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or QTLS
  • Strong background in teaching Science at secondary level
  • Experience working in SEND, PRU, or alternative provision, or as a generalist SEND Teacher
  • Confident adapting Science teaching for pupils with additional needs
  • Calm, resilient, and flexible teaching approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
