Summary
English Teacher – Permanent, full time from September 2026
This English Teacher role offers the opportunity to work in a specialist secondary setting supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, and social and emotional needs. The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where teaching is adapted to support engagement, confidence, and progress. This role would suit an English Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and skilled in delivering meaningful English lessons to pupils with additional needs.
Duties as English Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons adapted to meet a range of additional learning needs
- Teach core English skills including reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs
- Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Use positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies consistently
- Assess and track pupil progress, adapting teaching to support individual development
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and wider school teams
- Contribute to pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal English Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status or QTLS
- Strong background in delivering English at secondary level
- Experience working in a SEND, PRU, or alternative provision setting, or as a generalist SEND Teacher
- Confidence adapting English teaching for pupils with additional needs
- Calm, resilient, and reflective teaching approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
