Summary


The post holder will provide strategic and professional management of the delivery of a portfolio of ICB contracts. Working with the Associate Director of Contracts & Income (ADCI), Director of Planning, Performance and Contracts (DPPC), and other senior managers in the delivery of robust Contract Management, to oversee delivery of the Trust contractual requirements and mitigation of complex contractual risks via innovative, pro-active advice and support to the organisation on all aspects of contract management relating to the Healthcare Contracts in their portfolio.


The post holder will also act as the Trust’s lead Negotiator for key peer to peer (P2P) contracts, setting the strategy for P2P contracting and managing very complex, high value, negotiations managing both time constraints and senior manager level negotiations to protect the Trust from strategic risk regarding its Provider to Provider (as opposed to ICB) Contract portfolio.


This role provides direct support to the HCI in the delivery of contract management, deputising in their absence where required and when requested for the DPPC.

Act as a senior member of the Finance leadership team, working collaboratively with Divisional Finance Leads, Directors and external senior stakeholders to deliver contracting strategy and organisational objectives.

Lead negotiation and ongoing management of a portfolio of ICB and NHSE healthcare contracts, supporting Heads of Contracting and Income (HCI) with complex, time‑critical negotiations to protect Trust finances.

Provide effective leadership and operational management of contracting staff, aligning resources to priorities and ensuring delivery of ICS and Trust contract plans, including analysis and presentation of EACVs and IAPs.

Proactively manage commissioner financial, quality and prior‑approval challenges, minimising risk and leading service or pathway changes where required.

Ensure delivery of all contract activity and income targets, maximise income recovery, and act as a senior point of contact for provider‑to‑provider contracts.

Ensure robust application of NHS financial rules and guidance, briefing senior clinical and executive leaders, supporting ICS discussions, and overseeing monitoring and achievement of contractual quality KPIs.
