Summary


We are seeking a well-motivated, enthusiastic, caring and compassionate Band 4 Dental nurse to join our Head & Neck outpatients team.

We are based in the Elective Care Centre at the Aintree site of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a busy Maxillo facial outpatients department with a multi -disciplinary team that will support you throughout your development.

We offer a range of clinics that will stretch and develop you , including Trauma , Oncology , Minor oral surgery, skin surgery, TMJ and many more

To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients

To provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.

To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.

· Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.

· To prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.

· To undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.

· To ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.

· To provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.

· To provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.

· To assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.

· To support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines.

· To support and supervise all apprentice nurses, undergraduate groups

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with the day to day organisation of the department to ensure continuity of standards.

Provide Dental Nurse Skills and services in accordance with role.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their relatives.

Participate in improvement of services and the quality of care provision

CLINICAL

Maintain high standards of patient care and staff morale by, personal example, professional conduct and appearance.

Work collaboratively with staff of other units and departments in matters, which affect the department and patient care.

Preparation of patients prior to treatment/procedures, including pre and postoperative care instructions, acknowledging specialist areas of Oncology, Skin Lesions, Trauma, Orthognathic ,Orthodontics and
Restorative.

Appropriate preparation of clinical area and maintenance of instrumentation required for minor operating, dental, orthodontic procedures including Bi-polar diathermy.


Appropriate preparation and completion of data relating to patients and their treatment, maintaining accurate patient records.


Perform 4 handed Dentistry techniques in minor oral, dental and orthodontic procedures.


Assist in maintaining efficient stock control levels and ensuring the effective and efficient use of physical
and financial resources.
