About the role
Pay Details: Grade 6 SPC 14-19 £29,540 – £32.061 per annum (£15.31 - £16.62 per hour)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: This is a full-time position consisting of 37 hours per week, 52 weeks. The successful candidate between will need to be available 8:30am to 8.30pm, including evening and occasional weekend working. This will be undertaken flexibly through working hours.
Main Place of Work: Office based at the Civic Offices, Barry, but working throughout the Vale of Glamorgan.
Temporary Reason: This is a temporary employment due to grant funding.
Description: You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Families First Funded project operated by the Youth Service. Your role will be to provide personalised support young carers aged 8-17 years with general wellbeing support and providing respite opportunities to the service users. This will be achieved through 1:1 and group work within schools and community settings within the Vale of Glamorgan. The support the children and young people receive will enable them to set and reach goals to improve their own mental/physical health and wellbeing, while supporting with development of resilience and self-esteem. In return the successful candidate will receive a generous annual leave entitlement, enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme, hybrid and flexible working, access to staff benefits and the opportunity to join groups such as GLAM LGBTQ+ network for colleagues and allies.
About you
You will need:
Experience of face-to-face work with children (8+) and/or young people who may have barriers to engagement.
Experience of 1-1 support.
Experience of working with families.
Working in an empowering and empathetic way with children and young people who need wellbeing support.
Knowledge of emotional intelligence techniques.
Ability to work independently with remote supervision to deliver a 1:1 service for young people.
Ability to work as a member of a team to facilitate group work activities.
