Summary
SEZ Advisor
Part time, 32 hours per week
Grade 5 (£26,338.00 - £29,959.00) pro rata
Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.
The Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ) team provides a comprehensive ‘one stop shop’ service for current Abertay students who need to obtain or access information and help on any aspect of student life, both academic and non-academic. As such, SEZ team members are key contributors to enhancing the quality of the wider student experience.
SEZ sits within the ‘Student and Academic’ Directorate and has responsibility for a number of front-of-house Library, IT, Academic and Support services in its own right. In addition, the team works closely with colleagues from across the University including: Finance, Counselling, Careers, Students Association, Student Administration and the Advisory Service (for specialist Funding and International student enquiries)
In order to meet student requirements SEZ is committed to facilitating a joined up approach to service provision, minimizing the need for referral to more specialized staff, whilst always recognizing when a student needs to be referred to more specialist or in-depth support.
Listening to our customers and positively encouraging them to make suggestions on how we can improve the quality and efficiency of our service is central to what we do, and SEZ is a recipient of the Customer Service Excellence quality mark, having been independently assessed against the accreditation standards.
SEZ Advisors need to develop and maintain a very broad range of knowledge about all the possible processes, situations and regulations that impact on the student experience, so that they can provide the right information, resolve issues appropriately and refer on to specialist staff if necessary. This also means that our Advisors need to be able to use all the systems that apply to our partner units in SEZ.
Applicants must be able to work well under pressure and as no two days are the same at SEZ, tenacity and resilience are key! You must be comfortable dealing with difficult situations and be able to think quickly on your feet, maintaining overall service quality while balancing different demands at peak periods.
If you believe you have the skills and experience for this exciting and challenging role, please submit your application through our online recruitment system, which can be found at https://www.abertay.ac.uk/discover/work-here/jobs/
Please note that we will only accept applications through our online recruitment system.
