As our Technician in Beauty you will support outstanding student learning within beauty and aesthetics by creating an industry-standard, safe, and professional working environment with responsibility for preparing equipment and materials for students within the practical workspace environment. The post holder will maintain stock and stores in an efficient manner to enable staff and students to run realistic salon conditions, supporting practical delivery, and integrating current industry practices, trends, and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities of our Technician in Beauty:
Organisation of practical workspace areas to ensure effective utilisation of space, reflecting realistic salon/spa environments and commercial industry standards.
Prepare materials, tools, and professional products for student use, ensuring alignment with current beauty industry trends, treatments, and awarding body requirements.
Maintain overall responsibility for Health and Safety, ensuring compliance with legislation including COSHH, infection control, hygiene standards, and safe handling of professional beauty equipment and chemicals.
Ensure all practical learning environments, equipment, and electrical devices comply with health and safety standards, including PAT testing, risk assessments, and industry hygiene protocols (e.g., sterilisation and sanitation procedures).
Manage a rolling programme of maintenance for equipment such as facial machines, electrical beauty devices, salon furniture, and tools, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and industry relevant.
Support the development of commercial awareness by helping maintain a realistic client-service environment, including appointment systems, treatment preparation, and front-of-house presentation.
Contribute to course teams, attending meetings and liaising with tutors to support student progress, practical competency, and employability skills.
Assist in maintaining accurate records of student attendance, practical assessments, and progression tracking where required.
Ensure effective stock control of consumables (e.g., skincare products, wax, disposables), maintaining appropriate levels while minimising waste and cost.
Follow financial procedures for ordering supplies and equipment, supporting budget awareness and cost-effective resource management.
Maintain and update inventories annually, ensuring all equipment reflects current industry standards and awarding body specifications.
Support and deliver taster sessions, open events, and recruitment activities, showcasing the beauty provision to prospective students and stakeholders.
Support the organisation and coordination of educational trips, industry visits, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for both staff and students, ensuring relevance to curriculum delivery and industry practice
What we’re looking for in our Technician in Beauty:
GCSE (A-C) or equivalent in Maths and English
Level 2 or 3 subject qualifications or equivalent in Beauty Therapy
Recent experience of the subject specialism
Knowledge of Health & Safety policy/procedures related to Beauty Therapy Services
Experience in Stock Control and purchasing/managing incoming orders and distribution
Desirable:
First aid qualification or willing to work towards
Experience supporting staff CPD requirements
Experience organising trips and visits
