Summary
A senior health care assistant in a chemotherapy unit plays a supportive but essential role in patient care. We welcome you to join our Systemic anti -cancer therapy team at York Hospital and make a real difference to the patient care. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high quality, compassionate care for patients. Working closely with registered nurses and the multidisciplinary team you will help to ensure positive patient experience. You will be posted to work with SACT team, Acute oncology team and Mobile chemotherapy unit.
The post advertised will have a probationary period where the successful candidates will be expected to have completed the relevant training , and gained competence in cannulation, venepuncture, wound dressings, observations and assist with procedures that support diagnosis e.g. urine or stool samples. .

Our successful candidate will:
• Assist the registered practitioner in providing high quality compassionate care and assistance to patients/relatives and their carers, appropriate to their needs.
• Be responsible for carrying out tasks as delegated by the registered practitioner, who has overall accountability for delegating care.
• Provide pastoral support to new starters to the ward in a kind and compassionate manner.
• Use their own initiative within the level of competence to complete day to day activities for the role.
• Comply with the Trust’s vision, values and behavioural Framework.
