Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a secondment B7 post within the Paediatric Dietetic team at Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust to cover maternity leave for up to one year from August 2026. This is a split post between paediatric gastroenterology and the provision of dietetic services to the Neonatal Intensive Care unit.

The future of paediatric care in CUH is very exciting; work began on the Cambridge Children’s Hospital in 2024, which will integrate mental and physical health care, treating the whole child, alongside game changing research. Join us as our plans for this ground-breaking specialist hospital for the East of England take shape – read more on the Children’s Hospital website.

This post would ideally suit a specialist dietitian looking to advance their skills and knowledge within this area including all aspects of gastroenterology, neonatology and parenteral nutrition. The roles include service development, education and training as well as supporting junior members of staff.

The gastroenterology aspect of the role is three days a week and covers a wide range of tertiary gastroenterology in and out patients. Our gastroenterology service includes cover to complex regional cases. Intestinal failure, home parenteral nutrition, Inflammatory bowel disease, Coeliac disease and Eating Disorders. These roles are well established within the Paediatric Gastroenterology MDT and regional service.
This post would also support the tertiary level Neonatal Intensive care unit 2 days a week alongside the existing Band 7 Neonatal dietitian.
You will be joining a diverse and stimulating team of 25 Paediatric Dietitians providing excellent specialist care to children and young people cared for by the Addenbrooke’s Women’s and Children’s Division.
As a team we are committed to training and development. We facilitate this through a variety of ways including regular CPD sessions, shadowing opportunities, tutorials, specialist areas skill passports, and clinical supervision. We also take an active role in student training alongside the wider dietetic department.

You will possess good paediatric dietetic experience, including the areas of complex enteral feeding, nutrition support, management of IBD, coeliac disease and other gastroenterology disorders alongside experience in neonatal nutrition and care of the critically unwell infant. Experience in the management of the complex neonate, parenteral nutrition and / or intestinal failure would be an advantage.
