Summary
Assist in the development of diabetes dietetics service. Mostly for outpatients but on occasioninpatients. Provide a high quality, evidence based, effective diabetes dietetic service Provideexpert advice to carers/relatives, clinical practitioners and peers. Contribute to the identification and development of service needs. Educate and train other health professionals in all aspects of diabetes dietetics and be anactive educator on structured diabetes education programmes. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services andquality of care delivered for example o To assist with design and implementation ofintegrated seamless care pathways between primary and secondary care. Undertake research and undertake audits in own specialist area such as:o To demonstrate an improvement in the quality of care patients receive. Be involved in the production of protocols, procedures and evidence based literature in allaspects of diabetes dietetics Be aware of clinical governance issues including the review of NICE guidelines.
