The Role
We are seeking an experienced Therapeutic Practitioner / Mental Health Consultant to provide clinical and therapeutic input across two children’s homes. This includes direct work with children and consultative support to staff through formulation, advice and reflective practice.
This is a consultancy role with no line management, operational responsibility or clinical supervision duties.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 therapeutic support for children and young people
Contribute to formulation, care planning and therapeutic strategies
Provide consultation and reflective practice to residential staff teams
Support staff to understand and respond to children’s emotional and behavioural needs
Promote trauma-informed, attachment-based and PACE approaches
Work collaboratively with managers, staff teams and external professionals
Attend agreed meetings and maintain appropriate records
About You
You will have:
Experience working therapeutically with children and young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health needs
A strong understanding of trauma, attachment and relational practice
Experience in residential care, CAMHS or similar settings
Experience providing consultation and/or reflective practice
Ability to build trusting relationships and influence practice without line management
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate theory into practice
A calm, reflective and emotionally containing approach
Ability to work autonomously within a consultancy role
Desirable
Relevant professional qualification (e.g. counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, social work, nursing)
Professional registration (e.g. HCPC, BACP, NMC, UKCP)
Experience embedding trauma-informed practice in residential settings
Multi-agency working experience
Additional Requirements
Availability to work one day per week across two Trafford homes
Commitment to ongoing professional supervision
Enhanced DBS and safer recruitment checks
