Summary
The Estates Officer Mechanical Engineer is accountable for the cost-effective operation, maintenance and development of mechanical and associated engineering services across Trust premises. Responsibilities include planning and delivering maintenance programmes, managing contractors and direct labour, preparing specifications, administering contracts and overseeing minor capital works. The post holder will investigate engineering failures, carry out condition surveys, manage authorised person duties for key systems including medical gases, ventilation, water, lifts and HV/LV services, and ensure compliance with statutory and health and safety requirements. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, financial awareness and the ability to respond to operational incidents, including participation in the estates on-call rota.
