Summary
Bookkeeper / Client Support Executive
Location: Morningside, Edinburgh
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Full-time)
Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

With a strong reputation and a growing client base, they are now looking to recruit a Bookkeeper / Client Support Executive to join their supportive, friendly team. This role offers flexibility, career development, and the opportunity to grow within a professional environment.
The Role
You’ll play a vital role in supporting clients with both bookkeeping and customer service, ensuring high standards and timely delivery across all financial processes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing bookkeeping and client support to a portfolio of clients
• Processing payroll, VAT, and CIS work (key focus of the role)
• Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing VAT returns and self-assessments
• Supporting with accounts preparation where required
• Managing accounts payable and ensuring timely invoice processing
• Communicating with clients primarily via email and online platforms
• Responding to client queries and resolving accounting or technical issues
• Advising on cloud-based accounting systems, including implementation and training
• Collaborating with internal teams and contributing to process improvements
• Managing workloads effectively to meet deadlines
• Keeping up to date with accounting best practices and software developments
Requirements
Essential
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping and customer service
• Strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, and self-assessment
• Strong experience using Xero
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Proactive and customer-focused approach
Desirable
• Experience with cloud accounting software such as QuickBooks or FreeAgent (preferred but not essential as training can be provided)
• Experience within an accountancy practice
• AAT qualified or part-qualified
• Qualified accountant
• Background in Business Services or Advisory
