Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a substantive consultant in Sexual Health and HIV medicine to join Sexual Health Dorset working from our East Hub located in Bournemouth. This is a key appointment to support the service to support our fully integrated Sexual Health and HIV service to the population of Dorset.
Services provided by Sexual Health Dorset:
• Two Integrated Sexual Health Hubs based in Bournemouth and Weymouth providing sexual health, contraception and HIV services
• Satellite clinics for integrated sexual health in Blandford, Bridport, Poole and Shaftesbury
• In-reach sexual health services to three Dorset prisons and provision of HIV services to the two prisons based on Portland
• Psychosexual Medicine
• Sexual Health Education and Outreach Service (SHEOS) – young people aged 13-19 years
• Dorset Working Women’s Project (DWWP) – sex worker outreach
• Associated clinical services including an early medical termination service based at the Bournemouth Hub
• Training to local healthcare professions, including DCSRH
East HIV Information
The Bournemouth Hub provides outpatient care for around 1,000 HIV patients with an incremental rise in new diagnoses and transfers in (including international transfers) each year.
To contribute to the clinical leadership and development for service delivery of the Sexual Health and HIV Service as follows:
· To provide treatment, care and clinical expertise for patients with sexually transmitted infections, genitourinary conditions and HIV, including medical termination of pregnancy.
· To actively contribute to the development and implementation of the sexual heath and HIV integrated model.
· To provide clinical input and advice for HIV Inpatients admitted to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, University Hospitals Trust Dorset (UHD) as required as part of the HIV team.
· Contribute to a triumvirate model of shared leadership between medical leads, nursing leads and service management.
· Undertake managerial and administrative roles as required, in consultation with the senior management team.
· To actively contribute to all aspects of clinical governance; including safeguarding, audit, demonstrable clinical outcomes and clinical excellence.
· Contribute actively to all aspects of the Trust’s affairs.
· Manage directly or indirectly the medical staff including job planning.
· To act as Clinical Supervisor for medical staff and contribute to staff training and education to other healthcare practitioners.
