Hours pw: 40 hours per week

Rota basis to cover 0800 to 2000 7 days pw (1 weekend in 3)

About the Role
We are currently looking for a maintenance manager to manage our maintenance team working in and around our Grade II listed building, home of the Arthur Findlay College. The ideal candidate will understand mechanical and technical systems and have excellent leadership skills. You will direct all daily maintenance activities including management of tasks, optimising mechanical performance, and directing the team to carry out any necessary repairs.

Main Responsibilities
•Managing the Maintenance Team. Including 1:1 supervisions, performance, objectives, appraisals, training and development, sickness absence, managing conduct and capability.
•Recruitment and training of new maintenance team staff.
•Manage rota’s and annual leave.
•Timesheet checks and approval.
•Develop maintenance processes and procedures and ensure compliance.
•Fire Marshall duties.
•Enforce all health and safety rules and regulations.
•Create a safety-conscious work environment.
•Regular inspections to identify and resolves issues.
•Inspect electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality.
•Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
•Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
•Monitor expenditure as part of budget control for the maintenance dept.
•Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
•Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
•Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are complied with.
•Form effective working relationships with colleagues and senior management team.
•Maintain a professional and proactive attitude towards students, tutors, visitors and colleagues.

Maintenance Manager Requirements:
• Ability to consistently maintain positive relationships.
• Maintenance or business qualification an advantage.
• 3+ years’ experience in a maintenance role.
• Extensive knowledge in a variety of mechanical systems.
• Previous people management experience highly preferred.
• Experience in supplier/contractor management.
• Strong computer skills and an understanding of data analysis software.
• Can effectively and efficiently handle both administrative and mechanical responsibilities.
