Summary
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join our senior team as Deputy Director of BI Performance and Population Health Management.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the Trust’s continued journey to strengthen business intelligence, performance oversight, and population health insight across our services and partnerships.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer, the postholder will provide strategic leadership for the Trust’s data science, BI/Performance, and data engineering functions. You will lead the development of high-quality insight, analytics, and reporting that support operational delivery, strategic decision-making, and improved outcomes for the populations we serve.
The role is central to shaping how data and intelligence are used across the Trust, from supporting Integrated Performance Report (IPR) development and performance management, to strengthening oversight framework arrangements and enabling effective assurance.
You will also lead the Trust’s approach to population health management and neighbourhood intelligence, working closely with clinical, operational, and system partners to identify need, reduce inequalities, and support more proactive, joined-up models of care.
We are looking for a credible and collaborative senior leader with significant experience in:
Strategic business intelligence and performance leadership
Population health management and analytical insight
Leading multidisciplinary data, BI, and engineering teams
Developing robust reporting, governance, and assurance frameworks
Working across organisational and system boundaries
Translating complex data into actionable intelligence for senior leaders
This is an opportunity to make a real impact in a Trust with strong ambitions, an innovative culture, and a clear commitment to improving health outcomes for local communities.
If you are passionate about using insight, performance, and population health intelligence to drive meaningful change, we would welcome your application.
At Mersey Care we strive to continually build on our values and beliefs that will allow all our workforce to develop their potential and bring their whole self into the organisation. In order to strengthen our inclusivity and diversity, we recognise the need to ensure we become more representative of the communities we serve. This is recognised in the NHS England EDI Workforce Improvement Plan 2023 and NHS Workplace Race Equality Standard that in senior NHS Leadership positions, there is an underrepresentation of Black and Asian Minority colleagues (BME). As an organisation we are committed to our Perfect Care Goal on Anti-racism and so are employing positive action where we know there is underrepresentation and for this position therefore, we encourage applications from people who are from BME communities. The Equality Act (2010) permits Mersey Care as a defined public authority, to take steps to address inequity and underrepresentation as positive action, and this includes our approach for this position.
