Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Locum GP to join our dual site practices, providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced primary care environment. This role is ideal for an experienced GP who thrives in dynamic settings and can quickly integrate into different practice teams and systems. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population, managing both acute and chronic conditions through face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations. You will be responsible for conducting thorough clinical assessments, making accurate diagnoses, and implementing effective management plans in line with current clinical guidelines and best practice. A key aspect of the role involves safe and effective prescribing, including medication reviews and reconciliation, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and clinical governance. You will also be expected to identify safeguarding concerns, escalate appropriately, and contribute to the overall wellbeing of patients. As a Locum GP, you will maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous clinical records using a variety of electronic patient record systems. The ability to quickly adapt to different IT systems and practice protocols is essential. You will also manage administrative tasks efficiently, including reviewing test results, processing referrals, completing medical reports, and handling correspondence in a timely manner. Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated and continuous patient care. Strong communication skills are essential, both in interactions with patients and when liaising with colleagues and external healthcare providers. The role requires a proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to manage varying workloads and appointment structures across different practices. You should be confident working independently while also contributing positively to team environments. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality, patient-focused consultations across a range of clinical needs Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and long-term medical conditions Prescribe medications safely and in accordance with guidelines Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records Review laboratory results and take appropriate action Process referrals to secondary care and other services Manage clinical correspondence and administrative duties Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams Adapt quickly to different clinical systems and practice procedures Requirements: Fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and licence to practise Inclusion on the GP Register Up-to-date knowledge of UK clinical guidelines and best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and adapt to new environments Strong organisational and time management skills Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
