Summary
Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young people with complex needs? We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with students aged 11-19 who require high levels of support in a specialist educational setting.
This is a deeply rewarding role where you will support vulnerable learners with a range of needs, helping them to feel safe, valued, and able to achieve their full potential.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex and often multiple needs
- Work with young people with autism (ASC), SEMH, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and other additional needs
- Support both educational and personal development, including life skills and independence
- Assist with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a calm, consistent approach
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and safeguarding teams
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all learners
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with SEN and highly vulnerable children or young people
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with students
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Enhanced DBS on both the Child and Adult Workforce (or willingness to obtain)
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
