Summary

Mental Health Residential Support Worker

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to join our growing team, supporting children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs.

With flexible shift patterns available, this role can be tailored to fit around academic commitments or other responsibilities.

Shift Patterns
- 8:00am - 8:00pm (Day shifts)
- 8:00pm - 8:00am (Night shifts)
- 8:00am - 11:00pm with sleep-in

About the Role

As a Mental Health Residential Support Worker, you will support children and young people living in residential homes who may have experienced trauma, emotional distress, or mental health challenges. Working within a minimum 2:1 staffing ratio, you will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young people can develop, build resilience, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Support emotional regulation and overall mental wellbeing
- Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development
- Assist with daily routines, including education, appointments, activities, and bedtime
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of behaviours, routines, and progress
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with policy
- Support with personal care and household tasks where required
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience, empathy, and professionalism

What We're Looking For
- A caring, professional, and non-judgemental approach
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping
- Experience in mental health, social care, or youth work (desirable, not essential)
- Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (preferred but not essential)
- An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one - support provided)
- A full UK driving licence is advantageous due to varied locations
