Summary
About us
We're a small, busy accountancy practice based in Crossgates, Leeds, looking for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join our team. With a varied client base of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a couple of years' practice experience who wants to broaden their knowledge and develop their career across every area of general practice.
You'll be fully supported, trained across all aspects of the role, and given the time and study assistance to work towards your AAT qualification if that's the path you want to take.
What you'll be doing
Preparing year-end accounts and corporation tax/self-assessment returns for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, in line with recognised accounting standards
Managing clients' day-to-day accounting functions — month-end reconciliations and reports, supplier statement agreements, and overseeing accounts payable
Preparing, reviewing and submitting VAT returns
Running weekly and monthly payroll for clients
Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns
Preparing and filing annual confirmation statements with Companies House
Reconciling general ledger accounts and ensuring compliance with firm policies
Working across a range of accounting software, including Xero, Sage, VT, IRIS, QuickBooks and Moneysoft
What we're looking for
Around 2–3 years' experience in a UK accountancy practice (we're happy to consider candidates with slightly less for the right fit)
Working knowledge of cloud and desktop accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS, Moneysoft, VT or similar)
Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle deadlines across multiple clients
A sharp eye for detail and genuine pride in accurate work
Studying towards AAT, or keen to start — we'll provide study support and leave
A collaborative, client-focused attitude — our team is small, and client relationships matter
Why join us?
A broad, varied caseload that will genuinely accelerate your development
Hands-on training across every area of practice
Flexitime and a supportive, approachable team
Full AAT study package if required
Company pension
Benefits:
