At John Smedley, we’ve been making the finest knitwear for over 240 years – and it’s our people who keep that legacy alive. We’re now looking for a Garment Seamer to join our Production team, where precision, care, and teamwork bring our garments to life.

What You’ll Do:

As a Garment Seamer, you’ll be responsible for joining parts of our knitwear using specialist industrial sewing machines. Working to detailed specifications, you’ll ensure every garment is assembled accurately and to the high standards our brand is known for. Full training will be provided, so whether you’re experienced or looking to build new skills, we’ll support you every step of the way.

Your Impact:

·Assemble knitwear garments using industrial seaming machines

·Follow technical specifications and work instructions with precision

·Ensure all garments meet quality standards before moving to the next stage

·Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

·Work collaboratively with fellow machinists to meet production targets

·Contribute to a culture of craftsmanship, pride, and continuous improvement

Who you are:

·You’re calm, focused, and take pride in doing things properly

·You’ve got good manual dexterity and enjoy hands-on work

·You have strong attention to detail and care about quality

·You’re comfortable working to deadlines in a production environment

·You’re reliable, a great team player, and keen to learn new skills

What we’re looking for:

•Excellent attention to detail and a quality-first mindset

•Steady hand skills and good hand-eye coordination

•A methodical and consistent approach to work

•Ability to follow instructions and technical specifications

•Experience with industrial sewing machines is helpful, but not essential – full training will be provided

Why John Smedley?

·Work for a globally respected, heritage-rich British brand

·Be part of a supportive and close-knit production team

·Learn a highly skilled craft or build on your existing expertise

·Help shape garments worn and loved around the world
