What skills and experience we're looking for
Clare Mount Specialist Sports College is a very successful secondary school for pupils aged 11 - 19 with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs including autism. The school is outstanding in all areasas judged in its most recent Ofsted report and recently gained Autism Accreditation with Beacon Status.
Due to an unexpected increase in our pupil numbers for September, we are seeking to appoint an excellent, well qualified and inspirational teacher with the ability to work across awide range of subjects for all ages, to join our exceptionally successful school. This is an exciting opportunity for ahighly motivated practitioner who is child centred and able to meet the diverse needs of young people who havedifficulties within a learning and social environment. You must be fully inclusive and interested in the developmentof the whole child, able to differentiate work and your teaching to meet a range of social, emotional and academicneeds. The successful candidate will also be able to create a high-quality learning environment in which pupils arepassionate about learning, maintain high standards of planning, assessment and record keeping, and communicate effectively with staff, parents and students.
The Role: Why 'Aspire'?
Our Aspire provision caters for a small number of pupils with slightly more complex or multiple needs, or those who have experienced emotional barriers to school attendance, but are not ready for school and ready to learn. It is designed for those pupils who find the transition to secondary school most challenging, and / or those that need longer to learn to regulate their emotions. Our mission is simple yet profound: we ensure every child feels settled, safe, and seen.
The successful candidate will be:
• A strong teacher with a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes.
• Have up-to-date knowledge of subject curricula and assessment requirements for mixed key stages.
• Be passionate about all aspects of the curriculum, education and the importance subjects have in the wider cultureand ethos of the school.
• Be willing to learn more about the ever-changing needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
