An established and growing organisation within the logistics and distribution sector is seeking an experienced Transport / Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day depot operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring efficient delivery performance, maintaining fleet compliance and managing driver and warehouse teams within a fast-paced environment. Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will play a central role in driving performance, improving efficiency and maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
. Oversee daily transport operations to ensure deliveries and collections meet service targets
. Monitor route performance and address operational issues or delays
. Manage undelivered items and ensure correct processes are followed
. Ensure all operational systems are updated accurately and on time
. Oversee driver compliance, debriefs and performance management
. Manage fleet operations, including daily vehicle checks and maintenance scheduling
. Ensure compliance with transport and safety regulations
. Plan and allocate drivers and vehicles to meet operational demands
. Create and manage staff rotas, including peak and weekend planning
. Lead and manage driver and warehouse teams to achieve performance targets
. Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of staff
. Conduct performance reviews and manage employee relations processes
. Liaise with internal teams and external agencies
. Drive continuous improvement across depot operations
About You
. Previous experience in a Transport, Operations or Logistics Manager role
. Strong understanding of transport operations and compliance
. Experience managing drivers and warehouse teams
. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
. Strong organisational and planning skills
. Confident communicator with strong leadership ability
. Proactive and solutions-focused approach
. Good IT skills and experience using operational systems
Desirable
. Experience within parcel distribution or similar environments
. Knowledge of transport management systems
. Experience working with agency staff
What's On Offer
. 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
. Working hours 09:00 - 18:00 with a paid break
