Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer‑focused Security Officer to protect our client's property, people, and assets. The role requires delivering a secure and welcoming front‑of‑house experience while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
You will be fully accountable for achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and contributing to contract retention through the consistent delivery of an exceptional security service. The role also requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
This is a front‑of‑house position providing security services to the client and its customers. You will be required to cover multiple roles across the premises at short notice, including (but not limited to) Front of House, Loading Bay, Access Card production, and Control Room support.
Main Duties
Operations
-Ensure full compliance with all company policies, procedures, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements, as directed by the Site Manager and in accordance with UK legislation and guidance bodies.
-Complete all site tasks and duties to a high standard in line with published Assignment Instructions (AIs).
-Regularly review and adhere to Assignment Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to maintain service excellence.
-Maintain compliance with industry and statutory legislation, including holding and displaying a valid front‑line SIA licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision). Additional contract‑specific training may also be required.
-Comply with all health, safety, and legal obligations associated with the role.
-Follow instructions and procedures reliably, working in a systematic and orderly manner.
-Demonstrate strong customer service skills with excellent attention to detail.
-Promptly report all issues, incidents, or concerns to line management for resolution.
-Conduct internal and external patrols of the client's premises as required.
Training and Development
-Successfully complete all mandatory and role‑specific training requirements.
-Undertake additional training as directed to support continuous professional development.
-Use technology effectively to achieve operational objectives and enhance job knowledge and capability.
-Ensure SIA licence renewal is completed no later than 16 weeks prior to expiry.
Security, Health & Safety
-Identify and immediately report any health and safety hazards or potential risks on site.
-Remain vigilant to threats or environmental changes and take appropriate action to minimise risk, disruption, loss, or damage.
-Use initiative and sound judgement, involving others promptly if a situation appears to escalate or become threatening.
-Maintain professional conduct at all times, including when dealing with challenging situations or difficult customers.
-Record accurate, detailed notebook entries following incidents to support incident reporting processes.
-Adhere to schedules and demonstrate reliability and commitment to both Mitie and the client.
-Complete check calls at allocated times in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
-Contact emergency services and the Communication Centre to report incidents when required.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
-Previous experience in a security role
-Valid SIA Door Supervision (DS) licence
-Excellent customer service skills with a professional and approachable manner
-Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and good IT literacy (including Microsoft Office)
-Good physical fitness, with the ability to stand for extended periods and carry out patrols
-Excellent customer service skills that must be present to all persons.
Desirable:
-SIA CCTV licence
-SC Clearance
-A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to undertake additional duties to enhance the customer experience and security delivery
