Summary
Permanent | 39 hours per week
Salary: £28,792, rising to £31,792 through skill‑based increments (across 6 focus areas) + 15% weekend allowance (1 in 3 weekends, rota based)
Work at HMP Lancaster Farms on a stable MoJ contract with a supportive site team, free parking and an on‑site gym.
We’re recruiting a General Building Engineer to join our facilities team at HMP Lancaster Farms, delivering essential building compliance and maintenance work in a secure, well‑organised environment.
What you’ll be doing
Fire door, fire extinguisher and fire alarm checks
Emergency lighting, RCD and water temperature testing
Monthly and annual compliance checks
Logging and closing work via the CAFM system
Supporting site safety and security systems (CCTV and alarms)
What we’re looking for
Experience in building compliance and statutory testing
Fire safety maintenance experience
RCD and water temperature testing
Basic IT skills
If you have most but not all of the above, please still apply – training and development can be provided.
Prison security clearance and Standard DBS required – Amey will support you through the process.
Hours
Monday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
Friday–Sunday: 08:00–16:00
1 in 3 weekends (paid at 15% allowance)
