Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified Health Play Specialist to join the Therapeutic & Specialised Play Service based in our Dental department.
The applicant must have a Foundation Degree in Health Play Specialism or the previous level 4 qualification.Alongside this they will be required to hold an up to date registration with the Society of Health Play Specialists.
The post holder will play an integral role in the planning and care of patients in our Outpatient clinics .They should be flexible,productive and motivated to work individually and as part of the team.
The Therapeutic and Specialised lay Service is a well established team at the Evelina London Children's Hospital and within Guys & St Thomas Trust.
The Health Play Specialist will use theoretical knowledge and techniques to assess, plan implement and evaluate therapeutic play for patients. To work alongside Paediatric Dentistry at St Thomas and Guys Hospital sites preparing patients for procedures,distraction and familiarising them with the environment and equipment. The applicant will support patients in pre operative assessment and share information with wider team.

To support all children and young people attending the Paediatric Dental service to understand their treatment .
To provide age appropriate preparation for interventions and distract the patient when required.
To create a welcoming environment and provide age appropriate resources and activities.
To manage their own work load and work independently prioritising patients needs.To work alongside the MDT liaising and sharing information electronically or verbally.
The post holder will be expected to complete electronic documentation in patients notes and share this information at team meetings.
