We offer careers and roles in just about every area you can think of. Whether you’re looking for entry-level, mid-career or roles at the top of your chosen specialism, we can offer you a career where you can flourish and make a real difference in the communities around us while contributing to the world at large. Our people come from a wide range of backgrounds, each bringing their abilities and experiences to our organisation.
The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We are a large University covering a wide range of activities. In Professional Services, we support the University’s research and teaching, offering many career and role specialisms.
The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Heating Engineer to join our multi-disciplined trade’s team. You’ll be part of a supportive environment that delivers exceptional customer service across an expanding, world‑class estate. You will have completed an appropriate Recognised Craft Apprenticeship in either Heating & Ventilation or Building Services. A working understanding of minor works, alterations, refurbishments or new installations and significant experience of carrying out similar maintenance tasks within a complex estate is also essential. The role is predominantly carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance using an electronic maintenance system via smartphone. It would desirable that the postholder has similar experience of this method of work prioritisation. A driving license is essential as there will be a requirement to drive University vehicles. The Maintenance Services Team also operates an emergency call out rota which you will join on reaching 6 months service. You be expected to take part in 6 weeks out of the year.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week plus 7.5 hours compulsory contractual overtime per week). Standard working pattern: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (including a 30‑minute unpaid lunch).
