Summary
Job Title: Home Care Assistant
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist clients with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
* Support with mobility, including safe transfers and use of mobility aids
* Help with meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining adequate nutrition and hydration
* Administer or prompt medication in line with care plans and company policy
* Provide companionship and emotional support
* Assist with light household duties such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping
* Support clients with attending appointments or social activities where required
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in a client’s condition
* Follow care plans and risk assessments to ensure safe and effective care delivery
* Adhere to safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately
Skills and Experience:
* Previous experience in care is desirable but not essential (full training provided)
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Compassionate, patient, and reliable approach
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Basic understanding of health and safety and safeguarding principles
Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential)
* Willingness to undertake training and development
Other Requirements:
* Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable, depending on role)
* Enhanced DBS check required
Working Conditions:
* Work is carried out in clients’ homes
* May involve travel between locations
* Role can be physically and emotionally demanding
