Summary
Cornerstone Gardens is looking for a reliable, hardworking and practical Gardener and Landscaper to join our growing team.
This role will be focused first and foremost on garden maintenance and general garden care. As the gardening side of the business grows, and during quieter winter periods, there will also be work available on the landscaping side of the business.
This is a hands-on outdoor role, suitable for someone who takes pride in doing a job properly, works neatly, and is comfortable carrying out physical work in different weather conditions.
Main Duties
The main duties will include:
- Lawn mowing and edging
- Weeding, tidying and general garden care
- Pruning bushes, shrubs and hedges
- Planting trees, shrubs, flowers and seasonal plants
- Occasional pressure washing
- Occasional lawn scarifying and reseeding
- Clearing up properly after each job
- Removing and disposing of garden waste
- General garden maintenance tasks as required
Additional Landscaping Work
There will also be opportunities to support landscaping projects, including:
- General labouring
- Preparing areas for patios and paving
- Helping with paving installation
- Fencing work
- Decking work
- Basic bricklaying or retaining wall work
- General hard landscaping support
Experience or knowledge of paving, fencing, bricklaying, decking or general landscaping would be an advantage.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Own transport
- The ability to travel to and from jobs reliably
- Previous gardening, grounds maintenance, landscaping, labouring or practical outdoor work experience
- Confidence using common garden maintenance tools and equipment
- A reliable, punctual and professional approach
- A good level of physical fitness
- The ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions
- Pride in leaving gardens clean, tidy and well presented
- A polite and respectful manner when working at customers’ homes
Preferred Requirements
The following would be preferred but are not essential:
- Experience in landscaping, paving, fencing, decking or brickwork
- Knowledge of plants, shrubs, lawns and seasonal garden care
- Experience using petrol-powered garden tools
About You
- We are looking for someone who is practical, hardworking and dependable. You should be comfortable working independently when needed, as well as helping on larger jobs as part of a team.
- You will need to be tidy, careful around customers’ properties and able to communicate politely with clients.
- The right attitude is very important. We are looking for someone who wants to work, learn, take responsibility and help grow the garden maintenance side of the business.
