SEN Teaching Assistant - Guildford Area, Surrey
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded specialist school just outside of Guildford. This is a rewarding role where you'll play a key part in supporting students to grow in confidence, resilience, and independence within a caring and structured environment.
Role Overview:
- Location: Guildford area, Surrey
- Working Hours:
Monday: 8:30am - 4:00pm
Tuesday to Thursday: 8:30am - 4:15pm
Friday: 8:30am - 3:45pm
- Pay Rate: £14.00 - £15.50 per hour
- Contract Type: Long-term / temp to perm
- Transport: Own vehicle essential due to rural setting
About the Position:
In this role, you will support students with a range of additional needs, including complex mental health challenges. You'll help create a safe and encouraging space where learners can develop both academically and emotionally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils through emotional and behavioural challenges with patience and understanding
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
- Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and personal development
- Assisting learners across different age groups and abilities, recognising and celebrating progress
The school adopts a holistic, therapeutic approach to education, with small class sizes and a strong focus on individual learning styles, ensuring each student receives tailored support.
Candidate Profile:
- A supportive and empathetic individual with a genuine interest in SEN
- Previous experience is helpful but not required - a positive attitude and willingness to learn are key
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team
