Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision (Challenging Behaviour)
Syon / Ealing Start: ASAP Pay: from £107.45
A highly specialist alternative provision in the Syon area is seeking resilient, calm and exceptionally strong Learning Support Assistants to support pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school or are at serious risk of exclusion.
This is a setting like no other. Pupils can become highly dysregulated, display complex behaviour, and require adults who are unshakeable, thick‑skinned and able to remain composed under pressure. If you are someone who can build trust, hold boundaries and show unwavering consistency, this role will suit you.
About the Setting
- Supports pupils who have been excluded or are on the verge of exclusion
- Small group and 1:1 learning with a strong focus on behaviour regulation
- Highly structured, therapeutic and relationship‑based environment
- Staff work closely with behaviour leads, mentors and senior leaders
- Every day is different - and every day requires resilience
What We're Looking For
- Someone calm, confident and emotionally robust
- Experience with challenging behaviour, SEMH or alternative provision (preferred)
- Ability to de‑escalate, set boundaries and remain consistent
- A thick‑skinned, proactive approach - this is not a typical classroom role
- Someone who can build trust with pupils who may not trust adults easily
- A DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- Available to start ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils who may be dysregulated, oppositional or disengaged
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support in a structured environment
- Using de‑escalation strategies and maintaining calm, safe spaces
- Building positive relationships with pupils who have experienced disruption
- Supporting behaviour plans, risk assessments and personalised interventions
- Working closely with teachers, behaviour mentors and senior staff
- Helping pupils re‑engage with learning and develop emotional regulation
This Role Is For You If…
- You're not fazed by challenging behaviour
- You can stay calm when pupils cannot
- You understand that progress here looks different
- You want to make a difference to pupils who need stability the most
