Summary
Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a single-form entry primary school in Runcorn that is at the heart of it’s local community are they require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to join their team on a temporary basis.
This is an extremely exciting full-time opportunity where you will play an integral role in the education and communication development of pupils within a designated speech and language provision.
Your new role:
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining a welcoming and experience SEN team. You will work in collaboration with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to ensure that the developmental and communication requirements of your new pupils are at the heart of operations. You will be based within a full capacity SEN class consisting of 10 pupils with dual diagnosis of ASD and communication needs such as selective-mutism and non-verbal. You will:
- Use PECs, Makaton and other visual references to support communication
- Deliver 1:1 communication interventions and basic SALT
- Work in collaboration with external professionals including speech and language therapists
- Support during break and lunch times
- Support pupils sensory requirements
What you need to succeed:
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- A minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years
- Experience supporting SEN. ASD and non-verbal is advantageous
- Experience using PECs and Makaton
- Have an Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willingness to obtain
