Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a dedicated passionate teacher to take on the role of SENCO alongside teaching within our dedicated team at Kirton Lane. This role is a permanent role teaching in one of our classes with release time to complete SENCo responsibilities across the school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a setting with a high proportion of pupils with Special Educational Needs and complex behavioural needs. Our school is located in an area of significant socio-economic deprivation, and we are proud to play a vital role in supporting children and families to overcome barriers and achieve success. The successful candidate will be committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the provision for pupils with SEND across the school
• Develop and implement effective SEND policies and strategies
• Coordinate EHCPs, reviews, and referrals to external agencies
• Work closely with staff to support high-quality teaching and adaptive practice
• Provide guidance, training, and support to colleagues
• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and provision
• Support behaviour strategies for pupils with additional needs

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have substantial experience working with children with SEND, including complex needs
• Be a keen and compassionate teacher
• Demonstrate strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
• Be committed to inclusive education and raising outcomes for vulnerable pupils
• Have experience supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
• Be resilient, proactive, and solution-focused
