Summary
Ensure practice is in accordance with the BOA Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence. To have successfully completed the BOA casting course Maintain a high standard of patient care applying evidence-based practice. Maintain competence in all aspects of casting and cast care. Including application, maintenance and removal of orthopaedic appliances, slings, splints and braces. To conduct aseptic techniques and be able to clean and dress wounds; remove sutures and staples as required. To demonstrate competency and teach others in the safe and effective use of equipment in the clinical area. To offer professional advice to all areas requiring assistance in casting techniques, as required and updating knowledge of other Health care Professionals To manage the department environment and staffing and take responsibility for the flow of patients through the department. Effectively assess and delegate workload according to staff competencies in order to meet patient needs. Liaise with the PALS service on patient care issues.
