Summary

Research and Evaluation Officer

Are you looking for a role where your skills can directly benefit families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people?

Salary: £26,584 per annum pro rata
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 28 per week – ideally 7 hours per day Monday to Thursday
Location: Mainly working from home with occasional visits to our office in York
Closing date: 17 May 2026
Interview date(s): w/c 01 June 2026

The role
We’re looking for an exceptional individual to undertake research and evaluation activity that helps us gain insight about the disabled children and families we serve, our service quality, and the difference our support makes. In turn, this will help shape the services and support we provide and our influencing work with key external stakeholders, all with a view to achieving better outcomes for disabled children and their families. It also provides an evidence base for funders about the difference their support is making, so helping to sustain and grow/diversify our funding base.

In this role you will design and undertake primary data collection for a wide range of research and evaluation projects, and collect qualitative data by conducting fieldwork with families online and face to face. You will collate, analyse and report data and statistics collected about our services and their impact in a clear and meaningful way, ensuring that the voice of families is at the centre of our activity. Working with colleagues across the organisation, you will maximise the use of our data and family experience and support contributions to external research and consultations.

About you
The successful candidate might be early in their research career, a self-starter and driven to succeed. You will have sound knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methodology and best practice through the research cycle, coupled with excellent communication and analytical skills. You will also be a well-organised team player with the ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively.
