Summary
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to become our band 7 senior specialist adult dietitian for inherited metabolic diseases (IMD). An exciting opportunity has arisen within a growing service of Adult Metabolics in the south west.
While this post offers extensive training opportunities, some prior experience of IMD dietetics is desirable.
This is a senior specialist post within UHBWs acute dietetic service. You will delivery highly specialist nutritional care to a cohort or patients with a variety of IMDs. You will deliver care primarily to outpatients but also take a lead role in nutritional management during acute hospital admissions.
You will be involved in transitional care from paediatric to adults. The service provides care at both a local and regional level and this will involve occasional outreach clinics.
In conjunction with our band 8a clinical specialist dietitian you will work closely within the UHBW IMD MDT including consultants, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Specialist Pharmacist, Psychologist, Laboratory Staff and Dietetic Support Workers.
Provides a highly specialist clinical service for adult patients with IMD who require highly complex nutrition support, rehabilitation & prevention dietary therapy both as outpatients and inpatients at UHBW & NBT sites.
Take a pro-active part in all key activities along the pathway including clinics, meetings, audits and research.
Providing a specialist service and training for healthcare professionals, carers, and others. Therefore, you will be committed to the maintenance of personal specialist expertise, which is current, relevant, and accessible.
Support the pathway dietetic team, junior dietitians and support workers through supervision and appraisals.
Support the development of learners at all stages of career ie dietitians, support workers, apprentices and dietetic students.
Provide clinical cover for other dietitians’ duties in their absence.
Undertakes any other reasonable duties, which may be identified in consultation with the clinical & managerial leads for Nutrition & Dietetics services.
Contribute to the wider acute dietetic roster working one in every 8 Saturday and one bank holiday a year.
