Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Speech & Language Therapist who is keen to develop their clinical skills in the acute adult acute inpatient setting. You should be Interested in the management of dysphagia and communication impairment across a broad range of disorders.

Although this role is based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, there will be close working with the team on other trust sites with need for clinical cover at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and potentially Andover War Memorial Hospital when staff are on leave.

We are keen to recruit someone who will promote the Speech & Language Therapy service across the Trust with passion and enthusiasm. Given the changing demands of working within the NHS, the successful post-holder will need to demonstrate flexibility, an ability to work under pressure and a willingness to become involved in future service development.

We value the development of our staff and there are a wide range of opportunities for training and personal development. We have an effective, established program of clinical supervision, peer support and in-house education.

We provide a 12-month Preceptorship Programme for all staff who are newly qualified/ are in their first year or working in clinical practice. The Programme offers support, guidance, and advice for the preceptee alongside a structured programme of learning. It encourages safe, learning environment for new staff.

· To provide a Speech & Language Therapy Service to a wide-ranging caseload of adults with acquired speech, language and communication disorders.



· To work as an autonomous practitioner, in partnership with patients, their families, carers and other health service colleagues, to deliver integrated packages of care to adults with acquired speech, language and communication difficulties



· To complete relevant competencies to allow you to complete the above work for safe, effective patient care. Including participation in the trust preceptorship programme.

· When competency is established and it is appropriate to do so, there will be expectation to work bank holidays on a rota basis, agreed with the team.

You will work directly with patients across the hospital sites in general wards. There will be opportunities to observe and develop skills in management of patients who are on the critical care wards. Across your role, you will be working with the MDT to optimise their care.
