Cardiology – Junior Clinical fellow

Fixed term contract for 6 months

There are opportunities to cover our cardiology service. This is an unique opportunity to work alongside proactive MDT teams with daily consultant input to facilitate excellent care and safe care to our patients. There are opportunities for teaching, audit and research. The Division is fully committed to the continuing development, education and training of its staff.

· To support the daily ward rounds on our 10 bedded Coronary Care Monday to Friday with the Cardiology Consultants and SpRs

· Documentation of ward rounds

· Clerk/review new admissions to CCU from ED and acute admissions areas

· Completion of discharge summaries with clear information for primary care

· Undertake tasks resulting from ward round relating to requesting of investigations and review of results

· Practical procedures on CCU appropriate to skill and training but will include cannulation, blood gas sampling and urinary catheterization.

· Ensure investigation results are reviewed and uploaded to the electronic patient record (EPR)

· Web based listing of patients for transfer to local cardiac centres for coronary angiography, cardiac surgery and Electrophysiology studies as required with updating of the referral with any relevant results.

· To work as part of the Resident doctor medical team supporting CCU and C1 (general cardiology ward) Additional ward based support to our adjacent main cardiology ward may be required for afternoon sessions during foundation or IMT teaching when the C1 JCFs are on leave or on call.
