In this dynamic and fulfilling role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a diverse group of students, providing them with the individualised support and guidance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Collaborating closely with experienced teachers and specialist staff, you will play a crucial part in creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that empowers each student to reach their full potential.
Your exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, and adaptability will be invaluable as you assist students with a wide range of needs, from those with learning difficulties and physical disabilities to those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. By utilising your expertise and empathy, you will help to break down barriers, foster independence, and unlock the unique talents and strengths of every student in your care.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to students, tailoring your approach to their individual needs and learning styles
- Assisting with the delivery of carefully planned lessons and activities, ensuring that all students can actively participate and achieve their goals
- Monitoring and recording students' progress, sharing valuable insights with teachers and other professionals to inform personalised learning plans
- Offering emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to develop essential life skills and build their confidence
- Collaborating with parents, carers, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists to ensure a cohesive and holistic approach to student support
- Maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and development of all students
To thrive in this role, you will need to possess a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND, as well as a strong understanding of the various challenges they may face. Your ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also demonstrating independent problem-solving skills, will be crucial.
