Summary
Are you passionate about making a real difference to young people's lives? We are a small independent SEN school with just 25 pupils, which is seeking a dedicated English and Maths Teacher to join our supportive, close-knit community. We are open to employing either one person to cover both specialisms, or individual subject specialists, although ability to teach more than one subject would be advantageous.
Children who attend our school often arrive traumatised, withdrawn and shut down. The majority have diagnoses of ASD, ADHD and mental health difficulties. You'll play a vital role in supporting their recovery and reintegration into education, by creating a supportive, safe environment within your classroom and planning and delivering engaging, adapted and multisensory lessons designed to meet the differing needs of each child in your class. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with therapists, CAMHS, and families, ensuring every pupil receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive. Our pupils do not tend to exhibit outwardly challenging behaviour, but you will need strong, empathetic behaviour management skills to support them to manage and reduce their anxiety based avoidance.
What we're looking for:
- Experience teaching English and/or Maths, ideally in a SEN environment
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to adapt resources and assessments for a variety of learning needs
- Commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing and resilience in every pupil
- Experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Familiarity with evidence-based SEN interventions and bespoke curriculum planning is desirable
- Familiarity with PDA-type presentation would be an advantage.
Why join us?
- Excellent wellbeing-focused employee assistance programme
- Supportive leadership and professional development opportunities
- 20% PPA time, which can be worked from home.
- A close-knit, caring school community where every member is valued
The salary for this role is dependent upon experience and starts at £35,000pa.
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to satisfactory completion of safeguarding checks.
Our organisation is committed to creating a diverse workforce. We'll consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to sex, race, religion, belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, age, disability, marriage or civil partnership.
