Summary


We are inviting applications for a HCA/HCSW for Orthopaedic Pre-assessment at Braintree Community Hospital and Broomfield Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring safe and effective care for patients preparing for orthopaedic surgery. Our nurse led team deliver Pre-operative assessment to Orthopaedics patients and works closely with anesthetics and consultants.

The work is stimulating, varied and challenging, and the ideal candidate should be a motivated, team focused member of staff who enjoys providing excellent patient care and has a passionate approach to their work.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and an empathetic and calming approach. Computer literacy skills are desirable but not essential initially, however it will be a requirement and willingness to develop will be essential.

Travelling and working on both sites is an expectation.

As a member of the Care Team, you will assist qualified staff in delivering a caring and effective, patient focused service in keeping with the aims, objectives and standards of the Trust

You will assist with the maintenance of a safe care environment including preparing and clearing rooms and equipment with particular reference to infection control and safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff

Under guidance from qualified staff, you will ensure that sensitive and appropriate clinical care is delivered to meet individuals’ needs, respecting personal dignity and beliefs

You will ensure that information is handled and exchanged with care, accuracy and sensitivity, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times

You will ensure that effective communication is maintained within care team and between other care teams, patients, relatives and visitors

You will perform clinical duties under the supervision of registered Nurse

You will orientate patients and relatives to the Department environment

You will follow plan of care, and report any changes in the patient’s condition

You will report results of any intervention

You will liaise with other departments and members of the multidisciplinary team as directed by the nurse in charge.

Help co-ordinate pre-assessment clinics to ensure the patients complete the pre-assessment journey in a timely manner.

Ensure the patients have all required tests before being allowed to leave the department.
