Why Ash Hill Academy?

A Rising Star in Yorkshire. Nationally Exceptional: In 2024, Ash Hill Academy ranked in the top 16 schools in Yorkshire for progress, with an exceptional Progress 8 score of +0.25. Outcomes were outstanding, with 68% of students achieving Grade 4+ in both English and Maths and 49% achieving Grade 5+ in both subjects. In 2025, results once again demonstrated sustained excellence and consistency, with 68% achieving Grade 4+/4+ and an incredible 50% achieving Grade 5+/5+ in English and Maths.

Nationally, the context makes this achievement even more significant. Across England, 1,228 secondary schools have more than 20% white working-class pupils taking GCSEs. Of those schools, only 21 (1.7%) achieve a positive Progress 8 score. Ash Hill Academy is proud to be one of those 21 schools. Nationally, just 18.6% of white working-class pupils achieve a Grade 5+ strong pass in English and Maths. At Ash Hill Academy, 40% of this cohort secured Grade 5+/5+, more than double the national average.

We are proud to be the one of the highest attaining schools in South Yorkshire for schools with similar demographics and ranked 37th most improved in the country.

“Pupils at Ash Hill Academy achieve exceptionally well and are rightly proud of their success.” – Ofsted, May 2025
