Summary

Science Trainee Teacher

Salaried Route (London)
£28,000 – £32,000 starting salary
High-Performing Secondary Schools across London

Thinking about a PGCE… but put off by the cost?

Considering Teach First… but unsure about the intensity?

What if you could earn, train in the classroom from day one, and develop faster than both?

This is a fully salaried, school-based Initial Teacher Training programme designed for high-calibre Science graduates (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) who want a direct, practical route into teaching.

You’ll be placed in a high-performing secondary school within a leading multi-academy trust, gaining immediate classroom exposure while receiving structured, expert training.

Why this route over PGCE or Teach First?

• Earn from day one – no tuition fees or additional debt
• One school placement – build consistency, confidence, and real impact
• Structured support – high-quality coaching without the overwhelm
• Faster development – apply what you learn immediately in lessons

Training Approach

This programme follows a research-led, classroom-first model, often referred to as United Teaching.

You will learn through:

• Weekly one-to-one instructional coaching
• Evidence-based teaching strategies rooted in cognitive science
• Continuous feedback and deliberate practice
• A strong focus on subject-specific pedagogy

This ensures you become a confident, effective teacher far quicker than traditional routes.

Your Role

• Deliver and support KS3–KS4 Science lessons
• Develop your teaching practice through expert guidance
• Engage and motivate students across a range of abilities
• Contribute to a high-achieving department

Who we’re looking for

• Science graduate (Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
• 2:1 or above from a top university (preferred)
• Strong communication skills and ambition
• Genuine interest in education and long-term career progression

Why Science?

Science teachers are in high demand, offering strong job security and clear progression into leadership roles.

Interested?

If you’re deciding between a PGCE or Teach First, this is a compelling alternative combining salary, structure, and rapid development.
