Summary

The Role
We are looking to recruit a Bookkeeper & Office Administrator to take responsibility for day-to-day financial processes while supporting general office administration.

This is a key role within the business. Alongside maintaining accurate financial records, you will be expected to take ownership of core finance activities and contribute to improving and modernising our internal systems over time.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (currently Sage 50, with potential move to Xero)
- Post and manage day-to-day financial transactions (sales, purchases, expenses)
- Perform regular bank reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Support credit control and monitor cash flow
- Take responsibility for month-end processes, including producing management information (e.g. profit & loss)
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, and liaise with external accountants where required
- Ensure accurate matching of invoices, delivery notes, and orders
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure accurate data flow between systems
- Provide general office administration support (emails, calls, documentation, etc.)
- Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting

Skills & Experience
- Proven bookkeeping or accounts experience within a small or medium-sized business
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50, Xero, or similar accounting systems, including using the system to manage data accurately, produce reports, and improve financial processes
- Comfortable preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Confident using Excel and general office systems

Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Understanding of stock, orders, or production processes
- Experience improving or implementing systems and processes

Working Hours
Part-time, 3 days per week, nominally 08:00 to 16:30
