We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our small team at Cowley and Son Independent Funeral Directors, supporting families across Gloucestershire and Wiltshire during their difficult times. This role involves physically demanding work, requiring a smart appearance and a full UK driving license.
As a Casual Funeral Service Operative, you will play a vital role in our service to the community. Duties will involve bringing the deceased into our care from various locations, assisting with funeral services, and being part of our dedicated team.
Ideal Candidate:
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks, including carrying coffins
- Holds a full UK driving license
- Possesses a respectful and compassionate nature
- Able to work within a small team and communicate effectively
- Flexibility to participate in our out of hours on-call rota
- Experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous
- A willingness to learn and undergo training as required

Key Responsibilities:
- Bringing the deceased into our care from hospitals, care homes, and private residences
- Driving and maintaining funeral vehicles, ensuring they are kept in pristine condition
- Assisting in carrying coffins as part of the pall-bearing team during services
- Supporting the Funeral Director during funeral services to ensure everything proceeds smoothly
- Participating in our out of hours on-call rota, with additional remuneration for your commitment
