Summary
We are seeking to appoint a professional, reliable, and proactive Caretaker to support the effective day-to-day operation of our school site.This is a key role within our site team, ensuring that the school environment is safe, secure, and well-maintained for learners, staff, and visitors. You will play a vital part in maintaining high standards across the site, contributing to a positive and purposeful learning environment.Working HoursThe typical working pattern for this role is:07:00 – 09:0013:30 – 18:00There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility and support the school outside of these core hours, including attendance at school events, lettings, and responding to site needs when required.Key ResponsibilitiesSite Security & SafetyAct as a key holder, including locking/unlocking and alarm settingRespond to alarm activations and emergency call-outsCarry out routine checks of fire systems, emergency lighting, and safety equipmentEnsure compliance with safeguarding and health & safety proceduresMaintenance & RepairsUndertake minor repairs (e.g. basic joinery, painting, fixing fittings)Identify and report defects, taking action where appropriateMaintain internal and external areas to a high standardMonitor heating, lighting, and utilitiesContractor & Site ManagementLiaise with and escort contractors on siteMonitor contractor work to ensure safety and qualitySupport with arranging repairs and obtaining quotesOperational SupportManage deliveries and storage of goodsSet up rooms and equipment for events, exams, and activitiesCarry out portering and occasional cleaning dutiesWider School ContributionSupport the school’s values of Aspire, Responsibility, and CareWork collaboratively with staff and external partnersAttend training and contribute to the wider life of the schoolAbout YouWe are looking for someone who:Has experience in caretaking, maintenance, or practical workHas a good understanding of health and safety requirementsCan carry out basic repairs safely and effectivelyIs organised, dependable, and able to prioritise tasksWorks well both independently and as part of a teamDemonstrates a flexible, proactive approachIs committed to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environmentA relevant qualification in maintenance or a trade area is desirable but not essential.Why Join Us?At Connah’s Quay High School, we are committed to:Providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality environment for all learnersFostering a strong sense of community and teamworkSupporting staff development and professional learning
