About the Role

Highway Services are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join an ambitious and innovative team. The team has a central role in delivering transport projects that support the delivery of the Council’s Carbon Neutral 2028 Plan and other economic and environmental strategies. The post offers the opportunity to support the team in the delivery of new highway schemes within Nottingham, with an estimated turnover of £10 million per annum.

To help deliver best value throughout the service the role will be responsible for leading a team on undertaking highway operations on sites throughout the city.

To lead a team that will improve all aspects of how we operate our construction sites inc all plant, materials and operation of permanent and temporary site compounds throughout the city.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in road construction and maintenance, with ability to supervise teams and oversee site operations
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification and relevant qualifications (e.g. CSCS card, NVQ, Street Works)
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and traffic management
  • Leadership, communication, and organisational skills to manage workforce and ensure work is completed to standard
  • Flexible and reliable, with ability to manage shifts, deadlines, and multiple work sites

- This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
