EDGEWOOD SCHOOL – MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE
VACANCY
Salary- £27,000-£30,000
Hours- Monday- Thursday 7:30am-4:00pm, Friday 7:30am-3:00pm
Annual Leave Entitlement- 33 days (bank holidays included)
We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Operative to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors at Edgewood School. You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the school buildings, grounds and vehicles, carrying out repairs, minor refurbishments and general upkeep. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone with strong all‑round maintenance skills and a flexible, proactive approach.
Key Responsibilities
• General building maintenance and repairs (e.g. joinery, plumbing, decorating, plastering, DIY)
• Grounds and garden maintenance
• Carrying out health & safety and regulatory checks
• Maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles
• Supporting contractors on site
• Contributing to an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies
• Supporting the set-up and development of a growing school environment

• Practical, organised and able to work independently
• Good working knowledge of health & safety practices
• Willing to be flexible and learn new skills
• Comfortable working alone or as part of a team
