Summary
Primary School Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from as soon as possible
This Primary School Teacher role offers the opportunity to work in a specialist setting that supports pupils with hearing needs through clear structure, inclusive practice, and strong communication. The Primary School Teacher will join a collaborative team that values consistency, patience, and high-quality teaching. While British Sign Language is not required, clear verbal and non-verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Duties as Primary School Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging primary lessons tailored to pupils with communication and additional learning needs
- Use clear, consistent communication strategies to support pupil understanding and engagement
- Create a calm, inclusive, and well-structured classroom environment
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Work closely with support staff and specialist colleagues to support pupil progress
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress in line with school expectations
- Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Maintain safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Primary School Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching in a primary setting
- Strong, clear communication skills and a calm teaching approach
- Willingness to work within a specialist or inclusive education setting
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning and communication needs
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
